Who is Asset Match for?

The Asset Match Platform caters for a number of individuals and companies:

The individuals using the platform mainly consist of shareholders of the companies on the platform along with HNWI and sophisticated investors looking to invest in the private sector space.

There are a wide range of companies that use the Asset Match platform. We provide periodic liquidity through auctions to shareholders of companies that are at the pre-IPO stage or companies using the platform to give their shareholders liquidity. Asset Match provides an opportunity for the shareholders of these companies to increase their stake or to exit and realise the returns from their initial investment.

Can any type of company be listed on Asset Match?

The Asset Match platform is designed to give private companies periodic liquidity for their shareholders. Usually companies that list on our platform have over 50 shareholders, a turnover in excess of £10 million and a well experienced board of directors.

The Asset Match team undertakes a large amount of research and due diligence to certify the companies that are accepted on the Asset Match platform. Before being accepted companies have to be accepted by the Asset Match New Business Committee which is made up from industry experts in the private company space, who have a wealth of experience spanning the finance sector. More information on the Asset Match team can be found here.

Where can I find information on the companies on Asset Match?

Asset Match fully understands the requirements of investors hence, we make our utmost efforts to provide investors with as much information as we possibly can. Each company has a profile dedicated to providing this information. Below each real-time order book there is a devoted section to providing you with; market/auction information, key people, price history, news, financials, contacts and auction instructions. Other company information can be found on company websites and via the Companies House Beta Service.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount I can invest or sell?

There is no minimum value that can be invested through an Asset Match auction. However there is a minimum commission of £20 payable to the recommended stock broker, The Share Centre, regardless of the size of your order. There is no maximum to how much you can invest in a company via an Asset Match auction, although you can only buy shares when they become available, i.e. a share owner would like to sell shares.

Shareholders can buy and sell shares freely through the open Asset Match auctions. Asset Match also operates closed auctions and the purchase of these shares are monitored by the company themselves.

How is the share price calculated within the order book?

All Asset Match auctions use a matching engine to determine a single price for both buyers and sellers. During the auction period an indicative price will be displayed, which shows the price the shares would trade at if the auction were to close at that point in time. More often than not this indicative price is calculated where supply meets demand within the auction.

The pricing mechanism is designed to provide a very fair way of establishing market derived prices where there are differences in the level of user sophistication. Further information on how the pricing mechanism works and how to read the order book can be found in our order help book guide.
