Thousands of UK shareholders are clueless on the value of their shares and feel trapped and frustrated by their inability to trade shares, new research has found.
According to peer-to-peer trading platform Asset Match, 9% of Britain’s shareholders are unable trade the shares they own in a private company and feel trapped – equating to over 600,000 frustrated investors.
The survey found that 27% of shareholders – the equivalent of 1.8 million people – do not know the current value of the shares they own.
